Hi! I'm Veronica (on the left), owner of blinddatewithabook.ie! 

 

I've always loved reading! As a child, when I was meant to be sleeping, I'd be under the duvet with a book. I still always have a stack of books on the bedside locker. 

Bookshops are my kryptonite! It's almost the first thing I look up when I'm somewhere new - the local bookshop, and if they sell preloved books, even better. Blinddatewithabook.ie came to be rather suddenly! I love a good nosey in charity shops and after chatting with the lovely ladies in my local shop, I learned that they were having to dispose of a lot of the books to landfill which can by quite expensive. I couldn't believe it and after doing some research, realised that there are thousands of books going to landfill every year. A lot of these books are in perfect condition and deserve another lease of life.

I decided to try to make a small difference by buying a large number of books from the local charities and I signed up to a local Christmas market to sell them on as gifts. It went so well and that was the spark - maybe others want preloved books too. 

So here we are! I source through from charity shops, and thirds parties who source through charities and donations from folks who just want their books to get another life.
